Abstract: The purpose of this study is to contribute to the knowledge about the marketing of the
orange pear in the Centro de Abastecimento e Logística de Pernambuco (Supply Centre and
Logistics of Pernambuco) - CEASA-PE / O.S. The issue addressed is analyzed from the
perspective of the theory of the New Institutional Economics - NIE and is restricted to
governance’s structure of concepts and transaction attributes that are present at pioneering
work of Ronald Coase and Oliver Williamson, also encompassing other concerned theorists to study the institutions. Recent work by Oliver Williamson and Douglass North in the field of
New Institutional Economics opened a vast field for applications in agribusiness in this way,
aspects related to the structure of corporations, contracts, vertical integration and other forms
of governance Production systems are discussed in academia often through the NIE. The
present study reexamines of the Williamson's proposal (1985) from the perspective of
transaction costs. Therefore, the objective is to identify the pear orange sector the governance structure in CEASA-PE / O.S., based on the economics of transaction costs, applied to all the existing governance arrangements. The study proposes the model and uses the methodology of discrete institutional comparative analysis proposed by Williamson (1985) applied to the sector. As result of the study was concluded that the sector is predominantly linked the structure of hybrid governance by containing diverse aspects of other structures that are addressed according to each link studied in this work.

Abstract: This dissertation is structured in two essays about the market efficiency and the hedge operation in the sugar and alcohol sector in the state of Paraíba. The first essay analyzes the efficiency hypothesis of the Paraíba sugar and ethanol market through the cointegration test. The methodological proposal is an applied quantitative approach study. Historical series of sugar and ethanol were used in the Paraiba market, which were collected on the BM & FBOVESPA and the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA). For this purpose, the Descriptive Statistics metrics were applied to describe the behavior of the historical series, the Dickey-Fuller Augmented Test to verify the stationarity of the series, and finally the Cointegration Test, to analyze the long-term series relation. The results indicated a behavior with several oscillatory movements with tendencies for low and high prices in the market for both series. Regarding the stationarity of the series, the variables in view and future of the market in Paraiba, non-stationary roots were presented. Finally, the series estimate that there is no cointegration at the significance level of 5% and 10%, stating that there is a rejection of the hypothesis. Thus, it was evidenced that for both variables there is no cointegration vector. Therefore, it can be concluded that the sugar and alcohol sector of the market in Paraiba is inefficient. The second essay analyzes the hedge operation in the commercialization of Hydrated Ethanol - ETH in the state of Paraíba. The methodological proposal consists of a case study with a quantitative approach. For this purpose, historical series of hydrous ethanol from the Paraiba market were used, future prices obtained through the BM & FBOVESPA Market and Futures Exchange, and, finally, spot prices at a sugar and alcohol plant in Paraíba state. The following econometric methods, base value, risk base and descriptive statistics were used to verify historical series behavior; the Dickey-Fuller Augmented Test to verify the ethanol stationarity and the Johansen and Juselius Cointegration Test to describe the long-term ethanol relationship, and finally, the hedge operation and the optimal ratio and hedge effectiveness. The results indicated that hydrous ethanol in the market studied presented a behavior with oscillatory movements with tendencies for low and high prices for both variables in sight and in the future. Regarding stationarity and cointegration, the λ trace and λ maximum tests of the hydrated ethanol variables were presented, indicating an acceptance of the null hypothesis for the spot price practiced by the studied company, thus implying for the existence of a vector cointegration. Finally, hedge operations were measured, signaling a risk of approximately 21% for the spot price of the Agroindustrial Plant and 9% for the BM & FBOVESPA future price, that is, there is no effective coverage of risk. In view of all the results obtained, it is possible to conclude that the need for hedge protection by investors interested in the hydrocarbon ethanol market in Paraíba is latent in order to minimize the risks of the spot price and future.

Abstract: The unrestrained and inconsequential consumption of the last generations has caused negative impacts that compromise the sustainable development of nations. One option to reduce consumption levels and change society's culture in this regard is to project influences to change the way people use products and services. An alternative, then, may be to encourage consumers to opt for thrift store products, since this business model feeds on items that would otherwise be discarded into the environment. Thus, from the perspective of the main theories of consumer behavior, this research is willing to investigate the purchasing behavior of consumers in thrift stores, specifically contributing to the identification and analysis of the variables that interfere in the behavioral process of purchasing these products. The general objective of this investigation is to analyze the behavioral variables inherent to the buying process in thrift stores. This would allow a better understanding of the behavior of thrift shop consumers and, consequently, would help to foster consumption habits that are less harmful to the environment. Therefore, this research is classified, in terms of nature, as quali-quantitative, since it uses both methodological approaches. First, regarding the qualitative character of this investigation, a Systematic Literature Review was elaborated to identify the behavioral variables inherent to the purchase process of green products. Therefore, it was identified that the main variables that influence green buying behavior are: individual values, social norms, perceived effectiveness, perceived benefit, information/knowledge, emotions, government, individualistic values, skepticism, price and unavailability of product. After that, a field study was carried out in order to verify the behavioral variables inherent to the purchasing process in thrift stores in Recife/PE and to describe the influence that each behavioral variable exerts on the purchasing behavior of products in thrift stores. This stage of the study is classified as quantitative-descriptive, in which an online questionnaire was applied to a sample of 119 consumers. Data processing was performed using Spearman's correlation, in which it was found that the main variables that encourage the behavior of thrift shop consumers are: values, perceived effectiveness, perceived benefit, information/knowledge and emotions. This study contributes to the literature and society by identifying that these variables are related to each other, demonstrating that together they have a high level of significance to encourage the consumption of products in thrift stores.

Abstract: This research aims to understand the characteristics of firms' internationalization strategies and their performance in an ICT company from Pernambuco. This dissertation project is composed by the proposition of two essays. The theoretical contribution, common to both essays, will be composed by the stages model of internationalization, Uppsala; Resource-based view (RBV) and Dunning’s eclectic paradigm. In the first essay, we performed a Systematic Literature Review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol (PRISMA) on articles published in Scopus and Web of Science databases. This process resulted in 24 articles published between 2017 and 2021. Through the Review, five characteristic dimensions addressed in the internationalization strategies of firms were raised: resources, entry modes, external environment, internationalization processes and performance. These dimensions supported the design of the second essay. It is the proposition of an empirical study. A qualitative study was carried out with the objective of empirically analyzing the characteristics of the internationalization and performance of an ICT company based in Recife-PE. Data collection used a semi-structured interview technique with the main decision makers of the firm, data analysis was performed using ATLAS.ti software, in addition to content analysis. The results made it possible to find associations between categories raised in the literature and the strategies used by a company from Pernambuco in its international activities. The general contributions of this study extend to the management environment and other institutions, since they can help small and medium-sized companies in emerging countries in decision-making and will provide greater understanding to entities in the preparation and execution of programs to encourage internationalization.
